Job Description: Practice Manager - (Infrastructure Consulting Practice)

Function description

# Leads the analysis of a client’s current IT and Operations environment and the anticipation of future needs

# Provides SME knowledge as related to all aspects of Data Center environments related to Plan Build Manage

# Articulates long-term goals and directions for Data Center related solutions

# Rationalizes IT and Operations needs to reduce costs

# Conducts Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) to build business case for Consolidation and Virtualization ranging from Data Center two technology components.

# Provides leadership and expert knowledge in solving complex technical and business issues in regards to Data Center, IT and Operations.

# Participates in business development activities including creation of proposals, statements of work and scope definition

# Facilitates decision-making across technical and business groups

# Leads teams of technical and operations consultants in the planning, building and managing storage solutions. Teams may include clients, subcontractor and other services organizations.

# Develops and executes complex program plans and schedules

# Is accountable for quality, cost and schedule of technology solutions

# Prioritizes and staffs technical team assignments to support a 24x7 environment during migrations and consolidations

# Establishes and meets budgets

# Participates in conducting post-project assessments

# Facilitates knowledge sharing across the organization

# Undergraduate or Graduate degree preferred in any of the following disciplines: Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or Other Technology Fields

Tasks

Profile

# Ability to analyze client environment including existing data center processes and technology

# Complete understanding of data center operations including production operations, server, storage, network, database management, systems management, help desk, DR/Business Recovery practices, etc.

# Experience in data center operational technologies such as operating systems and server/storage hardware required

# Experience with vendor and subcontractor management

# Experience with EMC technology or significant competitor technology (HDS, IBM, Veritas, etc.)

# Experience interacting with all levels of an organization within IT and Business Groups; including ‘C’ levels

# Experience with Data Center Operations, Migration, Move and/or Consolidation required.

# Exposure to Business Continuity and/or Disaster Recovery planning, and ITIL is a plus

# Exposure to recovery strategy planning and implementation is a plus

# Demonstrated leadership including the ability to grow and develop other people.

# Quality and efficiency focused

# Ability to translate business requirements into technology requirements.

# Project Management skills including Work-planning, Estimating, Meeting Facilitation, Issue Resolution and proficiency with MS Project and MS Office Suite.

# Experience with process and quality management.

# Ability to manage detailed analysis of business problems and technical environments

# Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment

# Strong oral and written communication skills

# Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

# 3-5 years experience and a minimum of 2-3 completed programs within Consolidation & Virtualization in a Data Center environment

# Has directly lead teams of 6-12 people on projects extending to up to 40 people (across multiple project teams) ranging in duration from 2-8 months

# Experience in a Professional Services environment preferred Experience in Data Center Operations is preferred
