Pre-sales Consultant - Unified Storage Guru

Function description

The Technology Consultant (TC) is a highly focused pre-sales role tasked with positioning and supporting EMC’s offerings targeting IP storage. This position collaborates with Account teams, Sales, Marketing and/or our Partners to assess customer business operations and develop and propose fully integrated technology solutions. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of and experience with IP Storage technologies and be able to thoroughly understand and articulate EMC’s value proposition. Recognized as an expert on particular technical issues or specific software applications within a consulting practice area, the TC provides technical leadership and direction to pre and post-sales teams within an assigned district and may act as a lead consultant responsible for major project management efforts. The TC may interface with customer's senior management to assess major business operations and address product/service needs and consults with engineering to respond to customer's questions and remove objections that arise during a sales campaign.

Tasks

§ Deliver EMC's IP Storage solutions including the handling of integration issues and adoption of EMC Solutions in customers’ technology infrastructure settings or in relation to our partners’ solutions offering.
§ Provides technical and/or business consultative leadership for the IP Storage practice at the pre-and/or post sales level.
§ Communicates new EMC technical solutions within the IP Storage practice to sales, presales, and partner teams on a regular basis.
§ Works with delivery teams to ensure successful solution implementation with high customer satisfaction.
§ Ability to travel within the defined territory up to 80% of the time (depending on geography and business needs).
§ Ability to support efforts outside of the defined territory on an as-needed basis.
§ Supports local EMC trade shows or forums if needed.
§ Ensures appropriate levels of skills and proficiencies in the practice are being maintained by utilizing classroom, field experience, team training, and Web based training.

Profile

§ Bachelors degree (Tech) or equivalent, coupled with 4-8 years in the IT Industry.
§ Strong technical understanding of Unix and/or Windows and related applications in IP networking environments.
§ History of providing client-facing IP Storage solutions.
§ Strong written and oral presentation skills, the ability to work effectively on a cross functional basis, strong influencing skills.
§ Possess knowledge of IP Storage technology, products, processes, industry expertise, and consultative sales skills to educate customers on value of solutions infrastructure and management.
§ Possess knowledge of server virtualization technologies and related technologies within a virtualized environment.
§ Strong written and oral presentation and influencing skills.
§ Strong territory / account management skills.
§ Analytical experience.
§ Ability to work in a matrix environment.
§ Negotiation skills.
